Art Smith

In 1986, Art was tapped to edit and publish the Atlanta Guide, a monthly magazine for the gay community. He later went on to edit, publish and write for several other gay publications. Thus began nearly FORTY years of involvement with the gay communities in Atlanta, Austin and Tampa. In 2000 he spearheaded a fundraising project with a Swiss watch brand and the Elton John AIDS Foundation. He has also hosted and produced hundreds of video segments from a number of gay pride festivals in the Southeastern US with Channel125.com. His latest project #GayBarchives is creating the world’s largest archive of the stories and logos of gay bars from our past. He has conducted more than 100 video interviews documenting the rich and colorful history of our gay bars and digitally reconstructed thousands of gay bar logos. Information about this project can be found at GayBarchives.com.
