Jacqui joined the Civil Service in July 2009 where she joined the Department for Work & Pensions working out of Warrington Pension Centre after a long term career working her way up the career ladder in the private sector.
It was a decision that Jacqui has not looked back on as she was able to combine her role as a respected transgender rights activist and directly working in the area of transgender equality at the heart of government. First of all as the first ever Chair of the Transgender Network within DWP followed by becoming a member of the cross Civil Service Transgender Network – a:gender.
This was the launch-pad needed to establish herself as the Vice Chair in 2011 and in 2012 she became Chair until October 2016.
In February 2017 Jacqui joined the Department of International Trade as Lead for Diversity and Inclusion before moving to the Cabinet Office in October 2018 as an Inclusion & Culture Manager. In November 2019 Jacqui moved to Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service as the Head of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and Positive Action.
Her dedication both within government has been recognised nationally after she was ‘Highly Commended’ in class at the 2015 Excellence in Diversity Awards and winning the Diversity Champion Award at the exclusive 2016 British LGBT Awards. In May 2018 Jacqui won the prestigious Women in Trade (WinTRADE) – Head of Diversity Award.Former DWP 2nd Permanent Secretary – Terry Moran has said – “There can be few people more suitable, passionate or committed to equality interests than Jacqui.
